On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the InCyber Forum in Lille, we had the pleasure of hosting an immersive masterclass on crisis management of cyber origin. For nearly two hours, five groups of professionals from different industries were immersed in a realistic crisis situation, each associated with a fictitious company facing a major cyberattack.

CISOs, lawyers, DPOs, HR, communication, CIOs, as well as journalists, were able to experience together the reality of a crisis unit in the middle of a storm.

A realistic simulation, as close as possible to the field

All the groups were confronted with a crisis scenario imagined around a ransomware cyberattack targeting a fictitious company.

Paralyzed information systems, public demands, regulatory pressures, reactions on social networks: everything has been designed to confront participants with complex and evolving situations.

The simulation took place on our PIA® training platform. A platform that allows you to recreate an immersive and interactive digital environment: mailbox, internal messaging, fake press publications, news feeds, simulated social networks, documentation and crisis management tools.

Decision-making in emergency situations

Over the course of the exercise, the participants activated their crisis unit, structured their governance, notified the competent authorities, arbitrated under pressure and coordinated strategic actions in an emergency.

This scenario highlighted:

• The need to clearly identify roles in times of crisis;
• The importance of controlled internal and external communication;
• The obligations imposed by the NIS 2 directive;
• The central role of documentation (handrail, reporting, etc.);
• The difficulty of keeping an overall vision in uncertainty.

As Stéphanie Ledoux, CEO of Alcyconie, reminded us in her introduction: “Just because you know the theory doesn’t mean you’re ready. Training is the only way to anchor the right reflexes. »

A memorable experience and very positive feedback

The feedback from the participants, observers, journalists and experts present was all very positive. The quality of the scenario and the intensity of the exercise were particularly praised.

The media Challenges and Clubic each devoted an article to our masterclass, highlighting the tension, realism and richness of the exchanges. The experience allowed the participants to become aware of the complexity of a crisis of cyber origin, beyond the technical aspects, but also the legal, reputational, human and organizational issues.
